Gas unit heaters are test-fired at the factory, so it is OK to install unit heaters out of the box as-is without any adjustments.
Due to extensive & on-going vibration during shipping, handling and operation, it is important to adjust & re-secure the gas manifold and/or air shutters based on observing the flame pattern at start-up and periodically thereafter.
All natural gas & propane gas supplies have the exact same heat content & specific gravity year-around across all of North America, so adjusting the manifolds and/or air shutters for a proper flame pattern isn’t necessary.
