Grade 7 Science French Immersion - Review Themes 1 Et 2

The statement states that a natural structure is not built by humans. This means that a natural structure is one that occurs in nature without any human intervention or construction. Therefore, the correct answer is "VRAIE" (TRUE) as it aligns with the statement provided.

A knee and a door hinge are both examples of movable joints. In the case of a knee, it is a hinge joint that allows for movement and flexibility in the leg. Similarly, a door hinge is a type of joint that allows the door to swing open and closed. Both of these examples demonstrate the concept of movable joints, where two or more bones are connected and allow for movement.

The statement "Les matériaux tissés et tricotés sont très flexibles" translates to "Woven and knitted materials are very flexible" in English. This statement is true because woven and knitted materials are known for their flexibility. These materials are made by interlacing or looping yarns together, which allows them to stretch and bend easily. This flexibility makes them suitable for various applications, such as clothing and upholstery, where comfort and movement are important.

The given statement is true. A composite material is made up of multiple materials that are bonded and pressed together. This combination of different materials allows the composite material to have enhanced properties compared to its individual components. The bonding and pressing process ensures that the materials are tightly joined, resulting in a strong and durable composite material.

Both a beaver dam and an igloo serve as shelters or protective structures. While a beaver dam is built by beavers using sticks, logs, and mud to create a barrier in a river, an igloo is a dome-shaped structure made of snow blocks, providing insulation and protection from the cold. Despite the different materials used, both structures serve the purpose of providing a safe and secure habitat for their respective inhabitants. Therefore, the statement that a beaver dam and an igloo have a similar function is true.

The statement "Une charge est la masse supportée par une structure" is true. It means that a load is the weight or mass that is carried or supported by a structure. This is a correct definition of a load or a charge.

The statement "Les formes emboîtées sont de joints rigides" translates to "Interlocking shapes are rigid joints" in English. The correct answer is "Vraie" which means "True". This means that the statement is correct and interlocking shapes do indeed form rigid joints.

A margin of safety ensures that a structure is strong enough to withstand a greater load than what is expected. This means that the structure has been designed and built with extra strength and capacity to account for any unforeseen circumstances or variations in the expected load. This helps to prevent the structure from failing or collapsing under normal operating conditions or in case of unexpected events or accidents. Therefore, the statement "Un marge de sécurité garantit qu'une structure est assez solide pour supporter une charge plus grande que celle prévue" is true.

The statement "L'esthétique est la fonction d'une structure" is false. It translates to "Aesthetic is the function of a structure." However, aesthetics refers to the appearance or beauty of something, while function refers to the purpose or role of something. Therefore, aesthetics and function are two separate aspects and aesthetics cannot be considered the function of a structure.

A box of juice is typically made of laminated materials. Laminated materials are composed of multiple layers of different materials that are bonded together. This type of construction provides strength, durability, and helps to preserve the freshness of the juice inside the box. Therefore, the statement "Une boite de jus est faite de materiaux stratifies" (A box of juice is made of laminated materials) is true.

The statement "Le ruban gomme est un exemple de joint mobile" translates to "The eraser tape is an example of a movable joint." In this context, the term "joint mobile" refers to a type of joint that allows movement or flexibility. The correct answer "Vraie" (True) indicates that the statement is accurate and the eraser tape can indeed be considered as an example of a movable joint.
