Abstract Quizzes & Trivia

"Abstract" is one of those words which can have several meanings. In the legal, academic and publishing world, the word usually means a summary, which provides a quick overview of a document, a thesis or a paper. However, the word is more commonly used to describe a work of art, most notably paintings or pictures, which do not have much connection with the visible world. Abstract paintings use shapes and colors which come from the imagination of the artist, and do not try to be figurative or representational or be paintings "of" something.

Our Abstract quizzes pose questions about some of the famous artists who specialized in abstract pictures, such as Kandinsky and Mondrian, and also about the parallel abstract movement in music, where conventional tonality and rhythms were replaced by abstract elements of sound and divisions of time. Take them all and learn more about these important movements in art and culture.
