Any real ice hockey fan knows that the Arizona Coyotes play in the Gila River Arena in Glendale Arizona, but did you know that their previous venue was the America West Arena in Phoenix? After 7 ½ years there, they moved to their new home in 2003! Did you know that the team wasn’t founded as the Coyotes? The team started out as the Winnipeg Jets in 1979. It wasn’t until 1996 that they moved to Arizona and became the Phoenix Coyotes, and then in 2014 they dropped the Phoenix moniker and became an Arizona team.
