Sexual And Reproductive Anatomy Quiz - Quiz

This quiz includes the "scientific" or "medical" labels for various body parts, cells and other elements of sexual and reproductive systems in human. If you have different words... see morethat you use for your own body, that is okay! It is your body after all. However, these words are helpful when discussing health with a medical provider or needing to discuss your body with another professional in order to seek help.
No matter what kind of body we have or what we call it, we are all valuable and unique!

2. What is the skin that covers the glands (head) of the penis?

Explanation

The foreskin is often attached to the end of the penis in young people and over time it is able to be pulled back to uncover the glans (head) of the penis. The foreskin produces a waxy substance that needs to be regularly cleaned. Sometimes people remove the foreskin of their penis, this is called circumcision.

Submit
3. What is the external opening on the rear of the body where feces exit the body? This area can also be a source of pleasure.

Explanation

The anus is where feces (poop) leave most bodies. The anus has many nerve endings which some people find pleasurable to touch or put things in.

Submit
4. What is the reproductive cell that is developed by the ovaries?

Explanation

Egg cells are present in the ovaries of a body when that person is born. Usually starting at puberty those cells will develop and begin to release (ovulate) starting a menstrual cycle.

Submit
5. What is the internal organ that serves as a passageway for egg cells to travel from the ovaries to the uterus? This is often where fertilization happens.

Explanation

During ovulation, the fallopian tubes with 'catch' an egg cell as it travels towards the uterus. This is where a sperm cell can meet and fertilize an egg cell. However, a potential pregnancy does not occur until that fertilized cell implants in the uterus.

Submit
6. What is the external organ that is a sac to hold the testicles? This organ will tighten or loosen in reaction to temperature and/or arousal.

Explanation

The scrotum often grows larger and the skin becomes darker during puberty. Temperature changes and arousal can also effect how low a scrotum will 'hang'.

Submit
7. What is the external organ that is a fold of skin that surrounds and protects the clitoris, opening of the vagina and the opening of the  urethra?

Explanation

Bodies with a vulva have multiple labia (inner and outer). The size length and color of the labia are going to be different for everyone. Outer labia will often grow hair and inner labia may hang higher or lower than outer labia. All different types are valuable and healthy.

Submit
8. What is the internal organ that stores and develops egg cells? This organ also produces estrogen, progesterone and testosterone.

Explanation

A body with ovaries has all of its egg cells present at birth stored in ovaries. Starting at puberty ovaries produce the hormones estrogen, progesterone and testosterone. The amount of each hormone will differ from person to person.

Submit
9. What is the external organ on some bodies that is made up of the clitoris, labia, urethral opening and vaginal opening?

Explanation

The vulva is the external genitals made of multiple body parts including the clitoris, labis, urethra opening and vaginal opening. This is often called the 'vagina' but the vagina is an internal organ.

Submit
10. What is the external organ on some bodies that can become erect when aroused? This organ contains a urethra that can pass urine and semen through it. Can be used for pleasure.

Explanation

The penis contains a urethra which passes both urine and semen. However, urine and semen can't come out at the same time.

Submit
11. What is the reproductive cell that is created by the testicles?

Explanation

Usually sperm cell production begins at puberty for people with testicles and continues throughout the rest of their life.

Submit
12. What is the sensitive organ that is part of the vulva that can beomce erect when aroused? This external part is partially covered by a 'hood' with the rest of the organ being internal. This organ's purpose is pleasure.

Explanation

The clitoris is a pleasure organ that can become erect when aroused. The external part of the clitoris is located in the vulva, but also includes internal parts under the labia and around the vagina.

Submit
13. What is a part of DNA located in each body cell? Usually there are 23 pairs that carry the information that determine how our body grows and functions.

Explanation

Usually people have 23 pairs or 46 chromosomes in all of their cells. These come from the sperm and egg cells that created us carrying our genes which determine everything from our eye color to how tall we will grow. There are reasons why some bodies have more or less chromosomes which will effect how they grow and develop.

Submit
14. What is the internal tube like organ that passes urine out of the body? In some bodies this organ can also transport semen out of the body.

Explanation

While all bodies can pass urine through a urethra, bodies with a penis usually also can pass semen out of the body, this is called ejaculation. For bodies with a vulva, the urethra opens in the vulva and is separate from the vaginal opening.

Submit
15. What is the internal organ that is located at the opening of the uterus where it meets the vagina? It often produces a mucus to protect the uterus.

Explanation

The cervix is important to the health of the uterus. The mucus it creates also assists in keeping sperm cells alive which aids in fertilization. The cervix can also expand (dilate) for a baby to leave the uterus if someone chooses to carry a pregnancy to birth.

Submit
16. What is the internal organ that is the center of a human's nervous system? It controls the release of hormones that effect the development of our bodies. It also holds our thoughts, feelings, values and emotions which shape how we live our sexuality.

Explanation

Some people say that the brain is the most important sex organ. Not only does it control the beginning of puberty, but it also helps us feel and remember our likes and dislikes. Our brain also helps us with communication which is important to everyone's sexuality.

Submit
17. What is the internal organ that produces sperm cells? This organ also produces testosterone and estrogen.

Explanation

Testicles produce sperm cells starting at puberty and usually continue throughout life. Testicles also produce the hormones testosterone and estrogen. The amount will differ person to person.

Submit
18. What is the internal organ that is part of the brain that helps direct hormone production and starts puberty?

Explanation

The pituitary gland secretes hormones and communicates with gonads (overies and testicles) to begin puberty.

Submit
19. What is the internal tube like organ that often connects the uterus with the outside of the body? This muscular organ can expand and lubricate when aroused. This organ is also self cleaning.

Explanation

The vagina is a very muscular organ which regularly creates fluids to protect and clean itself. When this comes out of the body it is called 'discharge' and is a common, healthy thing.

Submit
20. What is the internal organ that is often connected to the vagina and fallopian tubes? This organ is usually capable of developing a fertilized egg into a fetus if someone wants.

Explanation

The fallopian tubes are a passageway for egg cells to travel to the uterus. The vagina is a passage way for menstrual blood ('period') or a baby to travel out of the body from the uterus if someone chooses to carry a pregnancy.

Submit
21. What is the internal organ that connects the testicles to the vas deferens? It often develops and stores sperm cells.

Explanation

While the testicle produces sperm cells, those cells need a location to develop (mature) and be stored. This is where the epididymis comes in. If the cells do not mature they cannot fertilize an egg (if that is what someone wants to do).

Submit
22. What is the internal tube like organ that transports sperm cells from the testicles to the urethra where they connect in the prostate gland?

Explanation

The vas deferens transport sperm cells to the prostate where they mix with other fluids to become part of semen.

Submit
23. What is the internal organ that provides most of the fluid that makes up semen? This organ attaches to the vas deferens.

Explanation

The prostate also provides fluid that makes semen, however most of semen's fluid comes from the seminal vesicles. The seminal vesicles attach to the vas deferens just above the prostate.

Submit
24. What is the internal organ that produces fluid that makes up semen? This organ is where the vas deferens and urethra meet.

Explanation

The seminal vesicles make up most of the fluid that makes semen, but the prostate also adds fluid as well. The prostate is also where the vas deferens and the urethra meet so semen can leave the body through ejaculation.
