Ananda or Kundalini

You prefer your yoga to be more about Spirituality than health and fitness. You enjoy sitting and chanting and believe that poses are just another way to enlighten your mind.   You prefer gentle, flowing poses and want to get to the main course: The meditation. You believe in chakras, astral bodies and your friends say that you're a bit New Age-y.   Why Ananda or Kundalini Yoga? You will enjoy Ananda because it focuses on breathing to energize your body, and there is a lot more focus on the spiritual. Kundalini yoga is similar as you feel the energy move from the base of your spine to your crown and focus on your chakras.    Your result is energy through breath and meditation.  

Anahat or Viniyoga

You like to do things at your own pace and work independently. You prefer a more individualized yoga instead of everyone doing the same thing. Spirituality is fine as long as it doesn't take away from the poses. You prefer gentler poses.   Yoga is a balance between spiritual meditation and a form of exercise for you.   You can see the benefits of meditation and yoga as a way to de-stress and relax, but there is no deeper "new-age" meaning to yoga for you.   Why Anahat or Viniyoga? Anahat Yoga focuses on flowing poses that open up your heart chakra. Viniyoga is individualized and focuses on how the poses that take your medical conditions or any injuries that you may have into account. 

Iyengar or Anusara

Yoga is all about poses for you. What they are, how you can do it correctly, and how that affects your body.  You know that yoga was a spiritual practice at one point which is why there are the breathing and contemplation involved but the cool poses are what's more important.   Why Iyengar or Anusara yoga? Both Iyengar and Anusara focus on yoga alignment. The difference is that Iyengar uses props to help you with your poses Anusara uses tantra and a more flowing sequence of poses.

Bikram

You love a challenge. You like pushing your body to the limits. Sweat is not a problem for you and is a sign of a good workout, and you have no problem doing the same things in every class. Stress is not a problem for you; you thrive under pressure.  Bikram is your preferred yoga as it challenges your body and your mind and you.   Why Bikram Yoga: Bikram yoga is a mental and physical challenge. It is not for the faint of heart. Literally. You are already fit and would like something to rev up your metabolism and make you feel like you've accomplished something. 

Ashtanga Vinyasa

You need a full-body complete workout. You love to multi-task and love excitement. You are fairly fit and flexible and can handle the difficult poses and non-stop flow if this style. Although it is based on an ancient system. This type of yoga is all about what you can do at first. You can get into the other parts of it later. You like to learn in stages and enjoy getting things right.   Why Ashtanga Vinyasa: The flowing almost acrobatic movements of ashtanga yoga makes this yoga style perfect for you. Especially since you are already so fit and would like an additional challenge to your workout. This is a full body cross training type of yoga and you'll love it!
