This is one of the primary administrative responsibilities of the Resident Advisor.

RAs are required to post the monthly meeting schedule and class schedule next to their room doors to inform residents about important dates and events. They are also required to post open door hours and a work request folder, allowing residents to easily access them for assistance or to submit any maintenance requests. Security breaches can result in the individual being arrested by Campus Police and charged with trespassing.

Resident Advisors cannot divulge information concerning students to any outside entity due to legal constraints. All requests for interviews/information must be routed through University and Community Relations as a matter of policy.

RAs who are spending the night somewhere else are most likely breaking the visitation or overnight guest policy

A two-week suspension of visitation is the standard for residents who have reached the 2nd Written Warning level of incident documentation.

The 1st Written Warning begins the documentation trail which can eventually lead to dismissal from housing. However, it does not warrant a referral to a higher authority; it is another tool in the RAs arsenal designed to reinforce with residents that their actions can have serious consequences.

When a resident reaches the 2nd Written Warning level of Incident Documentation, it results in a conference between the Resident Administrator and the resident. The Resident Administrator will then make the determination of whether to sanction the resident (loss of visitation, etc.) or to refer the resident to the Director of Housing.

Campus Police need to be notified first for suicide gestures/attempts involving a weapon or death of a student and anytime a situation is viewed as dangerous or threatening. This is because these situations pose immediate risks to the safety and well-being of individuals on campus, and the Campus Police are trained to handle such emergencies and take appropriate action to ensure the safety of everyone involved. Visitation violations and excessive noise, although important concerns, may not require immediate police intervention and can be addressed through other channels or campus authorities.

Resident Advisors are not law enforcement officers and they do not have the right to search a resident's room regardless of the circumstances.

Students who are of legal age are allowed to consume alcohol in the confines of their rooms unless they live in an area which has been declared an "Alcohol-Free" section.

Each resident is allowed to have a maximum of three guests signed in at any one time; therefore, in a double occupancy room the maximum number of guests allowed is six

Residence Life Staff return approximately one week before the majority of students return to campus.

RA's are required to conduct meetings for their floor/section as needed and once per month. This means that they have the flexibility to schedule meetings whenever necessary, such as to address specific issues or provide updates. Additionally, they are also expected to hold regular monthly meetings to ensure ongoing communication and engagement with their residents. Therefore, both options a and c are correct.

The Room Change Period is the only time residents can change rooms without going through the roommate mediation process.

When dealing with this type of violation, Resident Advisors are expected to contact the Resident Administrator on duty immediately. The Resident Administrator on duty will then make the determination whether or not to contact Campus Police

RAs serve as the initial contact point for residents when they are having issues or problems. In some instances, however, the resident's problem may be such that they need to seek outside help from the Counseling Center, etc.

Anytime a resident is documented using an Incident Documentation Form, the resident will initial and receive a copy of the documentation.

RAs are expected to be a constant presence in their areas, regardless of whether they are on duty or not.

Courtesy Warnings are exactly that, a courtesy. They are designed to reinforce with the resident the nature of the policy violated and remind them that future violations will be dealt with more harshly.
