What's Your Productivity Type?

If you have a project that is due at 5:00 pm on Friday, then you are not eating, driving, or sleeping until it is off your plate. We may be exaggerating a bit but you are so focused on the task at hand that you sometimes “forget” to take lunch or will consistently be the last one to leave the office. These are not necessarily negative things because you will hit those deadlines and stay within budget but in your cloud of extreme focus, your personal life can suffer. Instead of going to happy hour with friends or making it home for dinner, you are climbing the corporate ladder. You live to work, not work to live, right?

You are the type of person who buys furniture, starts putting it together, then midway through, decides you want to paint the room first. You stop and run to your local paint store. After after getting distracted by bright signs in multiple departments, you head back home to work on a completely different project. Eventually, you bounce back to painting. During painting, you finish two and a half walls but then come across a puzzle you wanted to do. While working on the corner of the puzzle you notice that it’s time to vacuum. Your life is surrounded by half finished projects because you get so easily distracted. The furniture eventually gets put together. This habit is not always bad — you work great in team environments, jump starting a project with a bang and getting the ball rolling for others to finish. Ooh shiny object!
