The duties of the PIC include ensuring that the aircraft is airworthy, all instruments and equipment required for the flight are serviceable, a certificate of release has been issued, the loading of the aircraft is in compliance with the Aircraft Flight Manual (AFM), dangerous goods (DG) are properly secured, a flight plan has been filed with Air Traffic Services (ATS), all necessary documents, current maps, and charts are onboard, the performance of the aircraft is in compliance with regulation 91.09, the external surfaces of the aircraft are clear of any deposits that may affect controlability, the required search and rescue (SAR) information from regulation 91.01.5 is available onboard, fuel, oil, oxygen, minimum safe altitudes (MSAs), and alternate availability have been checked and complied with, all relevant notices to airmen (NOTAMs), aeronautical information publications (AIPs), aeronautical information circulars (AICs), and ATS information have been checked, and all necessary facilities are operational. Additionally, the weather at the aerodromes has been checked and found to be above the required minima.
