There is no definite "first" stage of the water cycle. As it is a 'cycle', it never ends, so there is no beginning either. Evaporation is a type of vaporation from the surface of the water. It is when water from an ocean, lake, river, or pond changes from liquid to gas, and rises into the atmosphere. Condensation is the change of physical state of matter from gas to liquid.
Precipitation is any or all of the forms of water particles, whether liquid or solid, that fall from the atmosphere (e.g., rain, hail, snow or sleet).
