The Renaissance period started between 1400 - 1600. This period was considered as the golden age for choral composition. The instruments used during this time included brass instruments such as trumpet, cornet, valveless trumpet, and sackbut. Other instruments used were viol, rebec, lyre, lute, guitar, harpsichord, triangle, tambourine, bells, and small drums. Additionally, reed pipe, bagpipe, transverse flute, and recorder were also used. Prominent composers of this period included Byrd, Dowland, Gibbons, da Palestrina, and Tallis.
