Officers must leave an “urgent” message describing the nature of the spill and explain that the situation is on hold until the TERT member returns the call and makes a decision on how to handle the scenario.
Does the substance appear dangerous (smoking, bubbling, vaporous etc)?
Gather information from the callerName, call-back phone number, exact location of spill (Site, Building, Bay/Aisle/Column Letter and Number, Department, Office Complex, etc.), what type of chemical or fluid, and how much fluid or chemical is spilt.
Take direction from TERT member who will determine if the following are required:
EW, PEC, & TCAO: Notify a local onsite JD Duty Supervisor OR onsite Maintenance Supervisor
Notify CERT (Chemical Emergency Response Team)
