2. In any society the government needs to tax its people in order to provide things like roads, a military defense, and other things. However, many people disagree about how and how much taxes should be raised. How do you feel about taxes?

The rich should pay a higher percentage because they can afford it, the poor should get money from the government instead of having to pay taxes.

Everyone should be taxed at the same rate.

Taxes should be cut for everyone and we should cut many of the government programs that we currently have.

Most taxes like the income tax are illegal and should be removed completely.

3. The United States currently has a lot of problems with illegal immigrants in the country. What are your thoughts on immigration?

Rather than spending millions of dollars deporting illegal workers, they should admit that they entered the country illegally, pay certain fines, and be put on a path to citizenship.

Illegal immigrants should not be given any government assistance but should be deported to their home countries. The United States should also make stricter immigration laws to prevent many people coming into our country legally or illegally.

There should be no restrictions on immigration whatsoever. Anyone who wants to live and work in another country should be able to. Nobody should be denied anything based on their immigration status.

The problem is that our immigration laws are too strict in the first place. Immigration laws should be changed to reflect what life is really like. We should be trying to help other people come to America to be successful, not wasting money on getting rid of people who just want a job.

We should tighten security on our borders as well as try to discover and deport or fine any illegal immigrants who currently reside in the United States.

4. How do you feel about America's intervention in other countries, specifically to counter terrorism or percieved U.S. threats?

The United States should take an active role in attacking terrorism wherever it exists and supporting democratic ideals and personal liberties all over the world.

The United States should avoid negative relationship with other countries and let people figure out their own problems.

The United States should not get involved in other countries' business but can report to the United Nations if a country is not following accepted international standards.

The United States should focus on a strong defense and intelligence and stay out of the international community as much as possible.

The United States should try to stay out of things but if there is a credible threat to our own security then we should carefully get involved.

5. Where do you stand on the issue of gay marriage?

The government should make laws allowing same-sex marriage in all states.

Same-sex marriage should not be allowed and states should be allowed to make laws against homosexual behavior.

The government has a responsibility to make sure that same-sex individuals have all of the same rights as other citizens, including marriage.

The government should allow people to live the way they want to live without penalty.

Marriage should be defined as between only a man and a woman.

6. How do you feel about the money being spent to fund research for clean energy?

We should continue to look into clean energy but we need to tap into our oil and coal reserves that we have now.

I support all types of energy but the government should not spend money regulating or researching any particular type. Leave it to the private sector.

We need to completely abandon our dependence on fossil fuels and focus entirely on renewable energy sources with government aid.

The government should stay out of energy completely. In fact, the Department of Energy should be completely abolished. Let the people decide what to do with energy.

We need to regulate fossil fuels and give businesses tax incentives to produce clean, renewable energy.

7. What do you think about healthcare?

Healthcare is a right, not a privilege. The government should be the only provider of healthcare and it should be cheap and cover everything.

Some government regulation is needed, but for the most part the government needs to stay out of it and let people make their own decisions. The government should only step in to make sure people aren't taken advantage of.

The government needs to highly regulate healthcare to make sure that everyone has access to affordable, reliable healthcare.

The government should not be involved in any aspect of healthcare except to offer tax deductions for medical spending for individuals. We should remove all government healthcare requirements and let people choose where and how they get their healthcare.

8. What do you think about the U.S. military?

The United States needs to do whatever it takes to ensure that we have the strongest military in the world.

We should adopt a policy of armed neutrality where we have enough to see to our own defense, but do not get involved in military issues unless directly attacked.

We should lead by example towards a peaceful society by disarming nuclear weapons, downsizing our military, and preaching peace.

We should focus on international efforts for peace and work towards downsizing our military and weapons but we need to have some forces in case of self defense.

9. How do you feel about abortion?

I support a woman's right to choose abortion and the government needs to make sure that abortion is legalized in every state.

I do not support abortion in any situation. It is murder.

Abortion is an individual choice and the government should not get involved one way or the other.

Abortion should be illegal except in rare circumstances.

10. How do feel about the welfare system in America?

The government is not responsible for people who won't work for a living. Some government assistance might be okay for a short time to help people get on their feet but then it should be taken away if the person does not get a job.

The government should never provide welfare. This should be left up to charitable organizations like churches.

We should end welfare but use tax incentives to encourage corporations and businesses to help the poor.

We should expand the welfare system dramatically. It is the responsibility of the government to take care of its citizens basic needs.

We should continue our welfare programs as well as further encourage organizations and charities to give to the poor.

11. How do you feel about gun control?

Guns should not be banned entirely, but there should be strict government regulations controlling who can buy weapons and what weapons they can own.

Get rid of government restrictions but at the same time make severe penalties for gun misuse and gun crimes.

The government should not be involved with gun restriction of any kind.

There is no reason for anyone to own a gun. Even police should decrease their gun usage and use more peaceful means to capture criminals.

Every citizen has a right to own any type of gun they want however some minimal government regulation is acceptable to prevent misuse.

12. What is the role of government?

The government exists to protect our basic rights, not to control, regulate or diminish them. The government should not be involved in anything except protection of those rights.

We need a complete return to the basic Constitution. Nothing that is not explicitly mentioned in the Constitution should be allowed.

It is the government's job to take care of its citizens. This means making sure that all of their needs are met and that they live happy lives without worry or want of anything.

The government must do whatever is necessary to ensure the safety and success of its citizens.

The government should protect basic freedoms of individuals like life, liberty, and religion. It also has the important role of maintaining a moral society. Otherwise, government should stay out of our lives.
