Proper notation of a 12.234 solve with 4 +2 penalties (not before the solve).

    • A.

    • B.

      12.234++++

    • C.

    • D.

    • E.

      12.234 (four +2s)

    Correct Answer
    A. 12.234 + 8 = 20.234
    Explanation
The given answer is incorrect. The proper notation of a solve with 4 +2 penalties is 12.234 + 8 = 20.234. The solve time of 12.234 is added to the penalties of 8, resulting in a total time of 20.234.

Notation of a 1.234 time with a single +2 penalty (before the solve).

    • A.

      1.234+

    • B.

      2 + 1.234 = 3.234

    • C.

      3.234

    • D.

      3.234+

    Correct Answer
    B. 2 + 1.234 = 3.234
    Explanation
The given notation represents a time of 1.234 with a single +2 penalty before the solve. To calculate the final time, we add the penalty of 2 seconds to the original time, resulting in 3.234 seconds. Therefore, the correct answer is 2 + 1.234 = 3.234.

What do you do if you have any questions about anything? (choose all that apply)

    • B.

Let the competitor finish their attempt

    • C.

Pick up the competitor's cube and show the delegate

    • D.

Pretend it never happened and do nothing about it

    Correct Answer(s)
    A. Ask the delegate (and if the delegate is busy someone else that would probably know the answer)
    B. Let the competitor finish their attempt
    Explanation
The correct answer is to ask the delegate (and if the delegate is busy someone else that would probably know the answer) and let the competitor finish their attempt. This is the appropriate course of action when you have any questions about anything in a competition setting. Asking the delegate or someone knowledgeable ensures that you get the correct information or assistance. Allowing the competitor to finish their attempt shows respect for their performance and avoids disruptions.
