It's not uncommon for me to do something bad to get what I want, or even just to make money. It's not evil, it's business.

Simply not answer and walk away. Letting them get away with it is risky, but you know full well that it's against circle and magical society laws to give any indication that magic exists to normals.

Tell them they're being crazy, yell at them for harassing you, start a scene. Hope that it will embarrass them and put them off spreading any more rumours.

Try to erase all knowledge of magic from their mind, even though you know the long term risks of memory wiping is on normals. You hope you did well enough in bio-magic to pull it off.
