It can be disabled by setting a switch to use VTP transparent mode.
Explanation
Covers Spanning tree and other switch related topics
There is no mention of etherchannel being setup despite me suggesting it. Switch-2 will only have one port forwarding traffic to Switch-1 because this port will be the root, all others will be in blocking.
BPDUs are sent every 2 seconds. Max age timer is 20 seconds by default. 20/2=10 BPDUs
transparent switches support a max of 4094 vlans whereas servers and clients support upto 1005
Alternate ports are used by RSTP and are divided up into 2 other types called Blocked and Backup states. These ports are in discarding mode in RSTP
max age timer=6 seconds. 6/2=3 bpdus
disabled mode cannot receive or send any BPDUs. Blocking mode can only receive BPDUs but not send them
The priority values can be anything from zero to 61440 but going in increments of 4096. 0 and 8192 are the lowest and importantly most compatible options with the command. 24576 would also work but 0 and 4096 are lower and therefore better
As well as every 300 seconds, summary adverts are sent out whenever a vlan database change is implemented
