"Stop, drop and roll" is a commonly taught fire safety technique. In the event that a person's clothing catches fire, stopping immediately prevents the flames from spreading. Dropping to the ground helps to smother the fire and reduce the oxygen supply. Finally, rolling back and forth helps to extinguish the flames by depriving them of oxygen and smothering them further. This technique is effective in minimizing the risk of injury and preventing the fire from spreading further.

Most standard extension leads are 13 Amps, some are only 10 A. The maximum current rating should be clearly labeled, but always check before using, as overloading an extension lead can have serious consequences.

Standard smoke alarm batteries should be changed every year. Remember, never disconnect or take the batteries out of your alarm and if it starts beeping, change the batteries immediately.

You should check the batteries in a standard smoke alarm every week. A lot of people forget, so longer life batteries or an alarm with a ten-year battery could be a better option.
