Dear respondent:You are invited to participate in an online survey on how adults without any previous knowledge of American Sign Language interpret the meaning of a series of basic American Sign Language Signs. The study is being conducted for research purposes, and is being conducted by a researcher at the Pennsylvania State University. Implied Informed Consent: See moreThe purpose of this study is to get a baseline measure of how transparent (or guessable) these signs are. This will in turn help us better understand what factors affect the learning of ASL signs. You will be asked to answer a few questions about your language experience, and then watch 65 short video clips of 65 ASL signs. After each video clips, you will be asked to provide your best guess as to the meaning of the ASL sign. There are no risks in participating in this research beyond those experienced in everyday life. The benefits to you include seeing how well you can guess some basic ASL signs. The total time to take this quiz should be 30 minutes or less. You may take breaks at any point during the quiz and return to the quiz later, and the quiz will not reset unless you navigate away from the page. Your participation in this research is confidential.
