A globe is a small model of the world that accurately represents the Earth's shape, size, and topography. It is often used for educational purposes or as a decorative item.

A map is a visual representation of an area that shows where different places are located in relation to each other.

A compass rose typically found on maps is used to show the orientation of the cardinal directions - North, South, East, and West. It helps users determine which way they are facing relative to the map. The other options do not accurately describe the purpose of a compass rose.

A map key is a guide that explains the symbols or colors used on a map, helping the reader to understand what each element represents and enhancing their understanding of the map.

An ocean is a large body of salt water that covers a majority of the Earth's surface.

A continent is defined as a very large piece of land, typically identified by its distinct size and geographical features. It is not a city, dessert, or type of rock.
