You pursue the villain taking off with the disk. As much as you genuinely care about your teammate, it's many lives for one, a noble sacrifice. The enemy's hideout has never been found before and it isn't worth it to let him retreat there and plan another attack with the valuable data on the disk.
You attempt to direct the enemies attacking your teammate to yourself in an attempt to free up your teammate who is faster than you to chase the disk. You may or may not survive this fight going at it alone but your friends, family, and team will be safe.

There is no time for a press conference. You're on the watch for injustice and can't be bothered by speeches or questions. There will always be collateral damage in the war against evil and this time was no different.
You set aside a large amount of money to pay an accomplished speech writer to write a speech that would sway the people into forgiving you.

You choose a sharp sword.
You choose a large rocket launcher.
You deny all of the presented weapons. You don't need a weapon to fight.
You start your own super hero team rather than fall in line with another.
You determine which team is in most need of help based on geography and crime rates to apply to that team. It will likely be a very weak team that you join.
You ask those who trained you to assign you to a team, trusting in your authority's judgement.
You apply to the biggest, flashiest, and most adventurous team. You want to fight space pirates and giant monsters.
