How Do I Volunteer? - Quiz

Unsure about which type of volunteer work suits you the best? Take this short quiz to see what kind of area you should look into based on your interests.

You May Get

Children & Youth

You're most passionate about youth-related work, wanting to see the next generation fulfill their potential. You love being with children and youth and working with them, watching them grow and guiding them. It may be that you're a kid at heart with the energy and zeal needed to help improve the lives of these young ones. Look out for any children's home or after school programme that needs your talents to teach, play or just to spend time with them.

Environment

You love Nature and all its wonders and you probably pay more attention to environmental news. Not many other things irritates and saddens you more than seeing so much pollution and destruction of our natural resources. You'll do best volunteering at places like the Malaysian Nature Society or REACH, giving time and energy to clean up our Earth and raising awareness about the importance of caring for our environment.

Animal Welfare

You're probably an animal-person and if you don't already have pets, you spend a lot of time admiring them. The thought of animal abuse horrifies you and the rate of endangered animals in the world probably alarms you greatly. Check out places like PAWS or Furry Friends Farm to help care for domestic animals that have been abandoned. If you're more interested in wildlife, WWF Malaysia is always a good place to start to see if you can volunteer your time to help save a species.

General Relief Work

Your heart always goes out to victims of natural disasters and wars, and you hate to think of those suffering of poverty in your own country. You always think of the bigger picture - outside of you and your loved ones - and you're probably a humanitarian at heart. General relief work is not easy and most organisations require special training before sending volunteers into disaster areas to give aid to those who need it most. But if you're up to the challenge, then check out Mercy Malaysia or Yayasan Salam to see how you can help.

Senior Citizens

You have the interests of the elderly at heart and you're concerned with helping those who have reached their golden years in any way you can. You don't mind physically helping them with chores or just spending time with them. Try contacting old folks' homes, such as the one run by Rumah Charis, to see how you can contribute to helping senior citizens spend their days with dignity and grace.

Specialized Volunteer Work

You're particularly interested in specific areas such as helping the disabled, women's issues, rehabilitating drug users, aiding refugees, or providing an outlet for those who are facing clinical depression and need a listening ear. Everyone has their place and your talent may be specifically suited for a certain type of volunteer work. Check out the 'Other Types of Volunteer Work' section in HelpL4H's directory page to see some organisations that focus on specific areas.
