Don't worry about this :) This is the process for cellular respiration. Just type whatever you want int the box when your done.   1ST PROCESS FOR CELLULAR RESPIRATION FOR BOTH AEROBIC/ANAEROBIC RESPIRATION : Place: Cytoplasm Glycolysis process - absence of oxygen (fermentation) <harvesting electrons> Glucose broken down to Pyruvic acid > NADH (electron carriers > gets the electrons) > Gives 2 ATP but not enough   2ND PROCESS NOW FOR JUST AEROBIC PROCESS (ANAEROBIC STOPS): Place: Mitochondria Pyruvic acid moves into mitochondria > gets changed to acetyl-CoA (Why does it change? oxidizes > because oxygen present)   3RD STEP: Place: Mitochondria still Moves into the Krebs cycle (9 stages)> get more electrons out > electrons get carried by NADH and FADH2 (both electron carriers)   4TH STEP: Place: Electron Transport Chain NADH and FADH2 pass their electrons deeper into the mitochondrial membrane (squiggly line thingy in the middle) into the electron transport chain (drives the process to create/synthesize the most ATP possible) FINAL: 36/38 net ATP to use for EACH glucose molecule

Don't worry about this :) This is explaining how much ATP is made in each process of cellular respiration. Just type whatever you want int the box when your done. 1 glucose molecule: Fermentation = 2 net ATP Aerobic rep. = 30+ net ATP (makes wayyyy more ATP than just fermentation)

Photosynthesis is a chemical process that uses light energy to stick carbon dioxide molecules together with water to make sugars.

    • A.

      True

    • B.

      False

    Correct Answer
    A. True
    Explanation
Pt. 1: "Photosynthesis is a chemical process that uses light energy to stick carbon dioxide molecules together with water to make sugars."

The oxygen produced during photosynthesis comes from the breakdown of carbon dioxide.

    • A.

      True

    • B.

      False

    Correct Answer
    B. False
    Explanation
Pt. 1: The equation for photosynthesis is 6CO2 + 6H2O —> C6H12O6 + 6O2 (or carbon dioxide and water > in the presence of sunlight > gives glucose and water) When the water breaks down(H2O), that's where the oxygen comes from (O2). I asked her what the carbon dioxide is for, and she said it's to make carbohydrates (or sugar in this case).

The organelle involved in cellular respiration is the mitochondria.

    • A.

      True

    • B.

      False

    Correct Answer
    A. True
    Explanation
PT. 2: "Takes place in cytoplasm and mitochondria"

Fermentation is another name for anaerobic respiration.

    • A.

      True

    • B.

      False

    Correct Answer
    A. True
    Explanation
PT. 2: "Anaerobic (without air/oxygen) Cellular Respiration (fermentation)"

  • 7.

Cellular respiration is the breakdown of ATP and occurs in all living cells.

    • A.

      True

    • B.

      False

    Correct Answer
    B. False
    Explanation
PT. 2: "Cellular Respiration = The breakdown of sugars to ATP (useable energy) (energy molecule)"

Water and dissolved minerals move up the xylem of the plant via capillary action.

    • A.

      True

    • B.

      False

    Correct Answer
    A. True
    Explanation
PT. 2: "Water with dissolved minerals moves up xylem via capillary action"

    Sunlight energy is capture by...

    • A.

      Grana

    • B.

      Chloroplasts

    • C.

      Chlorophyll

    • D.

      Mesophyll

    Correct Answer
    C. Chlorophyll
    Explanation
PT. 1: "They act like an antenna to absorb the light (photons of energy)."

  • 10.

Cellular respiration is the ________ of photosynthesis. (HINT: not the same but...)

    Correct Answer
    opposite, opposite ,
    Explanation
PT. 2: "Cellular respiration = The breakdown of sugars to ATP"
    "Photosynthesis = making of sugar"

    Is this equation for aerobic or anaerobic? C6H12O6 + 6 O2  → 6 CO2 + 6 H2O + energy

    • A.

      Aerobic

    • B.

      Anaerobic

    Correct Answer
    A. Aerobic
    Explanation
    "Aerobic: C6H12O6 + 6 O2 → 6 CO2 + 6 H2O + energy"
Remember anaerobic has NO oxygen and uses ONLY glycolysis (process when there is no oxygen to get some ATP)

    • A.

      Positively

    • B.

      Negatively

    Correct Answer
    A. Positively
