The Belted Galloway is a traditional breed of beef which has a Scottish origin. It's from the Galloway cattle of the Galloway region of Southwestern Scotland and has adapted itself to living on the poor upland pastures and windswept moorlands of the area. The exact origin of it is often attributed to the presence of crossbreeding with the similarly colored Dutch Lakenvelder breed.
