Speaking Quizzes, Questions & Answers

In socio-linguistics, Speaking, or the Speaking model, is a model socio-linguistic study developed by Dell Hymes. It is a tool to assist the identification and labeling of components of linguistic interaction which was driven by his view that, in order to speak a language correctly, one needs not only to learn its vocabulary and grammar, but also the context in which words are used.

He raised questions like “What is the purpose of speaking?”, “What drives people to participate in this act?”, “Is speaking regulated by self-implied norms of interaction?”, and “Are there any secret hacks to performing the act of speech?” Take these quizzes on speaking, find out what his answers were and how much you already knew about speaking!
