It should first start with the most recent which means that it should be Cenozoic first then Mesozoic, Paleozoic, and Precambrian.

Studying different eras can be important because you will have a better view of how much the world has changed in general. There was a time when people have used stones for their tools and look at how much things have changed now. People will not achieve the modernity that they can see and experience now without the things that the different era have experienced and done.

If you begin with most recent then Cenozoic should go first and then back from there. Cenozoic, Mesozoic, Paleozoic, and Precambrian. Precambrian isn't most recent.
