The respiratory system is found in animals and plants. It is a system that holds the organs which allow us to breathe. The main organ in the system is the lungs. They are one of the most significant organs in the body, and if spread out, they could cover a tennis court. Other organs in the system include noses, larynx, and mouth. The respiratory system takes in oxygen and eliminates carbon-dioxide waste.

Another essential function of the system is creating sound. When one exhales, air passes from the lungs through the voice box. Then, when a person speaks, the vocal cords are rubbed together, which creates sound.
