The Denver Broncos began playing in 1960 as a part of the American Football League and joined the other teams of the NFL in a merger in 1970. This football team is from Denver Colorado. The Denver Broncos play football for the National Football League in the league's American Football Conference (AFC) West. The owner of the Denver Broncos is Pat Bowlen. The Sports Authority Field at Mile High has been the playground of the Broncos since 2001, after switching over from the Mile High Stadium where they played from 1960 to 2000.

While the Broncos play regularly now, they were not very competitive during their inital 10-year streak in the AFL and even during their first seven years in the National Football League. In fact, they did not have a winning season until 1973, 13 years after becoming an established team. Four years later they got into the playoffs for the team's first time in history and advanced all the way to Super Bowl XII.
