Yes, hunger can cause stomach pains. This pain accompanies hunger for a simple reason: as our body needs nutrients, our brain launches the process which we recognize as hunger. Typically, the messages of hunger lead to our looking for food and harmonize the readiness of our digestive system by providing it with substance to digest.

The abdominal pain is caused by the digestive process requiring movement and pressure to reduce all our food into a liquid form which can be processed all the way to the refuse. Missing a meal should not cause severe pain so you may want to discuss with your GP if there is a possibility of bacterial ulcer.
