Astigmatism is a common condition of the eyes in which the surface of the eye, or cornea, is not curved in the normal way in which it is suppose to be, leading to a blurred vision.

This abnormal curve (astigmatism) of the cornea simply means that when light enters the eye, it is not correctly focused on the retina which ended up in an unclear image.

Astigmatism can also be caused by an irregularly shaped lens that is located behind the cornea.
It can affect anybody irrespective of the age, children or adults. It can be developed after an eye operation or usually congenital or present since birth.
