Can dogs eat strawberries?

They can eat strawberries, but there is a catch to this. You should feed your dog fresh, just picked or just bought strawberries. If you’re buying them, make sure you get the kind of berries that come in the little plastic cartons without syrup. Canned berries and berries in syrup can contain chemicals and food products that are harmful to your dog. If there’s a place near you that let’s you pick your own berries, it might be worth picking and freezing your own berries if your dog likes strawberries year round.

If you plan on eating strawberries with syrups or that have been canned beforehand, it would do you well to keep them out of reach of your dog. If your dog is large, this might be harder, but smaller dogs won’t be as able to reach the higher countertops in kitchens.
