This depends greatly on what time during the pregnancy you’re talking about. It’s hard to see anything on an ultrasound until about five or six weeks into the pregnancy. Around three months is when people usually start to post pictures from the ultrasounds because that’s about the time you learn the baby’s biological gender.

The baby will actually look like a little human around this time too, and from there it’s just growing enough that it can survive life outside the womb. It will need help (that’s why babies often live with their parents or with some kind of caretaker) to survive the challenges of life, but it will be equipped to learn and breathe and grow, furthering its chances of survival.
