There are 809 Pokemon in total. It will increase in the coming year with an announcement for the 8th generation coming soon. I am excited!

There are too many Pokemons to even count and the total number of Pokemon will differ according to the game you are playing. Currently, there are 890 Pokemons in total.

Also, as Sword and Shield DLC will be released in 2020 (part 1: June / part 2: November), more pokemon will be added in the future.

It's true that there are 890 Pokemon to date...

However, because GameFreak is tolazyto

add every single generation into Sword and Shield,

they've literallycutthe National Dexin half, leaving

out most of the core chunk of iconic Pokemon species.

Total of known Pokémon as 7th generation of Pokémon is 809.

8th generation of Pokémon will have more than that.

In the current Pokedex, there are 809 pokemon, ending with Melmetal. However, there are the three Galar starters Scorbunny, Sobble, and Grookey, making it 812. Also, there were 7 more Galar pokemon released in the Nintendo Direct, giving us a new total of 819. In addition, there are 48 mega evolutions, giving us 867. Finally, there are 18 Alola forms of pokemon, giving usour grand total of 885. There are 885 pokemon

With the 7 galar pokemon in the pokemon direct 6.5.2019 it is 819
