The answer to this is 2. An asymmetric carbon is known to be a type of carbon atom that is attached to different kinds of particles. Sometimes it can also be attached to groups of atoms. Some people may still be confused about this.

If the carbon atom is attached to another carbon atom by a double bond, this cannot be considered an asymmetric carbon anymore. This type of carbon has been called asymmetric because it is evident that there is a lack of symmetry as the coals are not mirrored images of each other.
