Brussels sprouts can be prepared in different ways. Some like to steam, boil, sauté, braise or roast it. Some people add additional ingredients to take it one notch higher. However, in cooking Brussels sprouts, you have to make sure that you don’t overcook it because doing so would make it taste like rotten eggs. Before you make Brussel sprouts, make sure you wash, trim and cut it down. If you want to steam it, all you need to do is fill a pot with two inches of water and then bring it to a boil. Place the Brussels sprouts in a steaming basket and place it over the boiling water, making sure that the Brussels sprouts do not touch the water.
Cover the pot and steam for about 10 minutes. If you want to boil it, bring a pot of water into a boil, add salt to taste, and then boil the Brussels sprouts for 5 to 10 minutes. If you want to sauté it, heat oil over medium heat. Once the oil is hot, place the Brussels sprouts to the pan and cook for 10 to 15 minutes or until they are brown in color. Season with salt and pepper and then serve. If you want to braise it, bring a pot of water (just about one inch) to a boil. Once boiling, add the Brussels sprouts, cover it and braise it for about 5 to 10 minutes.
