In physics, particularly electronic magnetism, the Lorentz force is the combination of the electric and magnetic energy on a point charge due to electromagnetic fields. Lorentz force is perpendicular to both velocity and magnetic field.

The stream of an electric current down a conducting wire is ultimately due to the motion of electrically charged particles through the conducting medium. The electrical force on a charged particle is parallel to the local electric field.

A magnetic field is made by the motion of an electrically charged particle- such as a proton or electron. If the electrical charge is moving through an external magnetic field, there will be a magnetic attraction or repulsion force, depending upon how the two magnetic fields interact.
