Alcohol can cause irritation to the stomach, also known as alcoholic gastritis. Gastritis is an inflammation of the stomach lining that is largely cause by the abuse of alcohol. This may cause the stomach to develop ulcers or begin to bleed causing severe pain and discomfort, nausea and vomiting.

After your stomach has developed the ulcers and open sores, you are now more susceptible to developing stomach cancer. Alcohol abuse can be stopped which almost immediately begins to heal the body. Although there is a mix of studies on whether alcohol abuse can cause cancer, it is common knowledge to avoid alcohol abuse.
