Baby monkeys are born to monkeys of a different color. For example, if the monkey is a dark brown color, the baby monkey may be light brown or a reddish color. However, after about half a year, the mother and baby monkey will start to look more alike. Like most baby animals, the baby monkey must rely totally on its parent. The mother monkey will take its baby wherever it goes.

Most baby monkeys are quite playful and spend their hours playing when they are not in the direct care of their mothers. When the baby monkeys travel with their mothers, they hang onto their fur or wrap their arms around their mother’s in order to hang on. Baby monkeys are quite small at not even one pound in weight at the time of its birth.
