It depends on what kind of an elephant you’re talking about. There are three elephant species that are alive today. The Asian elephant typically lives the shortest life, at around forty-eight years to an elephant’s life. The other two elephant species - African bush and African forest - are both alive between sixty and seventy years. They can drink gallons upon gallons of water each day, and can even smell water when it’s miles away.

Other animals often follow elephants around in times of a drought because of this ability that they have. They use their trunks to snort the water up, and then shoot it into their mouths when their trunks are full. They also use the trunks as a nozzle of sorts to gets themselves clean.
