Deserts are some of the harshest climates on the face of the earth. With and extreme change in temperature daily and extremely sparse water and vegetation, deserts are not home to many plants and animal life. Many deserts around the world reach high temperatures during the day, upward of 120 degrees Fahrenheit. In the night, some deserts reach temperatures as low as freezing.

The drastic temperature changes make it almost impossible for many animal species to survive in this climate. The average yearly rainfall varies between deserts and their location, some receiving up around 3-5 inches whereas some receive .01 centimeters per year.
