The Appalachian mountain range runs right through Alabama. This mountain range goes through Georgia in the United States at its southernmost point, and in its northernmost point, through Newfoundland in Canada. There are also parts of this range in an overseas French territory called Saint Pierre and Miquelon. The range has a wide girth from north to south, as mentioned earlier.

The mountain snows drain into a variety of rivers that traverse the United States. The Tennessee river is one of these rivers. The water flows into the Tennessee river, and then into the Mississippi river from there. Another river is the Cumberland river. The Cumberland river flows into the Ohio river, and then from there, into the Mississippi river. The water eventually ends up in the Gulf of Mexico.
