Known as a river, the Mekong is located in the southeastern area of China. However, it also runs through other countries as well including Myanmar, Laos, Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam. It is a long river which runs about almost three thousand miles. Rivers like the Mekong help people with their agriculture.

The land around the river and its delta are fertile, making it easy to grow crops in that area. The delta dumps into the South China Sea. It begins near the Tibetan Plateau before meandering down through the countries and eventually flowing into the sea. Many different animals and creatures live in the Mekong River that do not live anywhere else. One is the giant softshell turtle and it is found near the Mekong River in Cambodia.
