A developing child gets nourishment from its mother through the uterus. To start off, the uterus is where the fetus develops. Amazingly, it expands tremendously to accommodate the fetus and work hand in hand with the placenta to provide the developing child with the nutrients it needs. It then derives nourishment from blood vessels formed between the embryo and the uterus which allows the exchange of nutrients.

However, the uterus can only provide the nourishment that a developing child needs if the mother also takes care of her body. Studies proved that if a mother leads an inactive lifestyle or unhealthy diet while she is pregnant, the blood flow to her uterus will be stagnant and her child may be at risk to diabetes, cardiovascular disease, obesity and other health-related problems.
