In biology, the cytochrome c is a molecule that has experienced a very little change over a long period in history. Unlike other cytochromes, the cytochrome c is water solution to a great extent. This makes it a very important participant in the electron transport chain in which it is responsible for carrying one electron.

It is a small protein, which is found in the mitochondria in its inner membrane. Without this molecule, mitochondria could not function properly as the powerhouse of the cell. Such a dysfunction would ultimately lead to the inevitable death of the living body cell.
