A network is highly needed during these modern times. People rely on computers in order to type correspondence, keep data and to send information to different people. If a company wanted to update information so that all employees could see it and change it when needed, their computers would be networked. This means that they need the set of computers to be linked so that they can share resources together.

For example, if Bill needs to keep a spreadsheet or information about the sales in the company, but the information needs to be instantly changed when a new sales happens, then the network would be needed so that everyone in every location of the building or buildings has access to this program.

A set of computers linked together to share resources

Networks are not just computers linked together but linked so that they can share resources both with and without cables.
