The correct answer to this question is 40. This answer is found by adding together the amount of legs per animal and person. Cats have four legs, so four multiplied by four equals 16. Humans have two legs, so two legs for six humans equals 12. Like cats, dogs have four legs, so four legs for three dogs equals 12. Then, you would add the sum of the legs up. 16 plus 12 plus 12 equals 40, which is the answer. This word problem would normally be found on math tests for elementary all the way up to secondary education. Logic and reasoning would be used to solve the problem.
