Has is known to be the third person singular present tense of the word “have.” You will normally use it when you have when you would like to describe what a person may currently have.

For example, you may say, “Sophia has a new bag.” Has is used in order to show that a person owns something. You will use “had” when you want to say that the person used to have something but it is not there anymore.

For example, you may say, “Mrs. Briggs had the flu last week but she is feeling better now.” One similarity between the two is that they are both transitive verbs. It is important that you know exactly how they can be used because grammar is very important.

Has and had are both tenses of the word have. They are both singular words used in the third person, but has a present tense, while had is past tense. Both words are used in the form of transition, but has is talking about something that is currently going on, while had is talking about something that has already occurred.

Has also referred to ownership. Has is something that is occupied while had is something that is taken. An example of a sentence with the word has is, "He has been studying for the test all weekend." An example of using had is "Jane had been to the store earlier in the morning."
