The major difference is that Motrin is just a brand name of ibuprofen, and ibuprofen is a generic drug. Motrin is mainly used for minor aches like headaches, arthritic pain, toothache, menstrual pain, backache, etc. Motrin is available in capsule, tablet, and also syrup form for infants. Motrin is more potent than ibuprofen. When an allergic reaction is observed during the intake of Motrin, it should be stopped immediately because some individuals are allergic to Motrin.

Ibuprofen is cheaper than Motrin. They are used for inflammation in arthritis, dysmenorrhea, fever, and other pain. Ibuprofen is only available in its tablet form. Patient /client that are allergic to aspirin should avoid ibuprofen and also have any ulcerations in the alimentary tract should not take ibuprofen.

One of the major differences between these two drugs is that one is a generic drug, and the other is a branded drug. Of course, ibuprofen is an example of a generic drug, while Motrin is just a brand name of ibuprofen. Most times, Motrin is considered to be more effective compared to ibuprofen.

This might not be unconnected to the fact that branded drugs offer more benefits compared to generic drugs. Although both are painkillers, ibuprofen is used mostly to treat inflammation in arthritis and dysmenorrheal, while Motrin can be used to treat backache, toothache, arthritic pain, headache, menstrual cramps, muscular aches, etc.

Unlike ibuprofen that exists only in tablet form, Motrin exists in three forms i.e., syrup, tablet, and capsule. Another difference is that Motrin is a little bit expensive compared to ibuprofen. Although the two drugs can be bought over the counter, but they should not be misused because they can worsen the condition of people with certain health issues.

Ibuprofen is a generic medication, while Motrin is one of the market names of Ibuprofen together with Advil, Nurofen, and Nuprin. Ibuprofen is a generic drug, while Motrin is the name brand. It is because of this that Ibuprofen is less expensive. Motrin is used in cases such as headaches, minor aches, muscular aches, cramping due to PMS and dysmenorrhea.

Some people prefer to use the brand name only because it is usually more reliable than generic. Motrin or Ibuprofen should not be taken if severe allergy occurs. People who are allergic to aspirin should avoid both drugs. It should also not be used if you have stomach problems, such as stomach ulceration and bleeding problems.
