Wellbutrin and Wellbutrin XL are two antidepressant drugs used to alleviate the signs and symptoms of depression in people. Both medications are sold under the generic name Bupropion, which means Wellbutrin and Wellbutrin XL are brand names for drugs sold under this name. Most times, Wellbutrin and Wellbutrin XL are considered to be the same since they contain the same active ingredient i.e., Bupropion.

People are usually advised to take these two drugs as prescribed by their doctors. It is in the nature of their usage that we can easily point out little differences that exist between the two drugs. Wellbutrin has proven to work faster and quicker compared to Wellbutrin XL since it is used mostly by people who want quick benefits, and that is why it is taken three times a day. In contrast, Wellbutrin XL is taken just once in a day, and it is used to get long-term benefits. It is as a result of this that Wellbutrin XL is considered to be more effective compared to Wellbutrin.
