Wavelength is used to measure the length of sound waves, while frequency is used to measure the recurrence of sound waves. Wavelength is the distance over which the waves shape repeats.

It is characteristic of both traveling waves and standing waves, as well as other spatial wave patterns. The wavelength can be confirmed depending on the crests, troughs, or zero-crossings through which sound passes, while frequency is a measure of time.

Frequency is the number of incidences of a repeating event per unit of time. The frequency of a sound wave can also be measure by dividing the speed of sound by wavelength.
