Gypsies and travelers are two distinct societies. While both are nomadic people, the two societies have entirely different origins, language, physical features, and culture. Travelers, on the other hand, are known for traveling around Ireland, the United Kingdom, and America. Gypsies' traditional way to make a living is through itinerant trade and fortune-telling.

Rumors and testimonies have painted the picture of the classic gypsy as being money hungry. Gypsies' origins have been traced back to South Asia. The gypsies have a unique language that is closely related to the dialects of the Northern India subcontinent. Their ethnic group is called Romany. It has been said that the origin of the travelers can be traced back to Ireland.

They speak a common language called Shelta. There are different groupings of travelers, and two different languages are spoken. It depends on the particular group in which dialogues are communicated. The two languages are Gamin and Cant.0
